Which Ojo video phone model will I receive?

Snap!VRS is currently distributing PVP-900 Ojo video phones. (top)

Does Snap!VRS provide additional Ojos for free?

No. If you want an additional Ojo video phone then you will have to purchase it from our online store and subscribe to Ojo Services. (top)

Are the ASL interpreters qualified?

Yes. Our interpreting staff is highly qualified and have many additional skills and talents that enhance their performance as VRS interpreters. (top)

Does Snap!VRS require me to have any equipment?

You only need a broadband Internet connection to connect the Ojo video phone. Your connection can either be direct to your modem or via a router if you have several devices sharing the Internet connection. Each applicant is eligible to receive one free router. (top)

Do I need to keep my standard local and long distance calling plan?

Snap!VRS does not require a standard telephone calling plan since it uses the Internet to transmit calls. If you want to use Ojo for regular phones throughout your home to place conventional voice-only telephone calls, then you will need to keep your calling plan. Note: Ojo PVP-1000 is the only model that supports both conventional voice-only calls and Snap!VRS video calls. (top)

Can I use Snap!VRS with a dial-up connection?

No, it requires a broadband connection to transmit high quality video. (top)

Can I use Snap!VRS with a satellite Internet connection?

It may work for you depending on your service provider. (top)

What phone number do I use?

Use your existing home or office telephone number as your identifier. The Ojo works through the Internet so it will not interrupt your regular phone service. If you do not have a telephone number, then Snap!VRS will assign one for you. (top)

Is my conversation kept confidential?

Yes, Snap!VRS interpreters are required to comply with Snap!VRS confidentiality agreements. (top)

How do I set up my router to work with Ojo?

Many routers will work with Ojo without requiring any changes. Some routers may require configuration to support video calls. If you have problems connecting Ojo to your router, then please consult technical support. (top)

Can I take my Ojo with me when I travel?

Yes. Your phone number will stay the same, and you can connect Ojo anywhere there is a broadband Internet connection. Just like mobile devices, the networking technologies will automatically find your Ojo and remember the assigned telephone number. (top)

Can I connect my Ojo if my company or home network has a firewall?

Yes. Video calls using Ojo require you to configure the firewall though so that certain IP ports are not blocked. (top)

Does Snap!VRS offer Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) services?

VRI is a different service from VRS. Snap!VRS customers should not dial "711" to access VRI services.

What is the difference between Snap!VRS and other IP relay or TTY services?

Snap!VRS allows you to conduct video relay calls through a video interpreter using a video phone. However, IP relay services only allow you to place text-based relay calls from a PC or mobile device. You do not see a video interpreter. Similarly, TTY services only allow you place text-based relay calls using a specialized teletype device. (top)

Can I call Snap!VRS using a "softphone" with a web cam?

Yes. You can call Snap!VRS using softphones on a PC platform that are compliant with the prevalent VRS standards (e.g. H.323, H.263, and SIP). Here are two examples: Netmeeting and Polycom PVX. Snap!VRS recommends using Polycom PVX. (top)
